Start with your store configuration
Record the exact OpenCart version, PHP environment, language pack and payment and shipping extensions. Check the corresponding Journal release and installation documentation. Estimate a new store separately from a heavily customized existing one rather than comparing only homepage appearance.
Test with a real catalog
Use nested categories, long product names, multiple options and unavailable products to test search, filters, navigation and the mobile cart. Before importing demo configuration, identify which layouts and settings it replaces and keep a recoverable copy.
Clarify support responsibilities
Separate theme defects, third-party extension behavior and bespoke development requests when seeking support. Include versions and reproducible steps. This is a procurement checklist, not a performance test on our own store or a guarantee of extension compatibility.
